Who we are
Sea Skills Online publishes online maritime courses. The contact address for privacy questions is hello@seaskillsonline.com.
What the site stores
Account names, email addresses, password hashes and enrolments are stored in your browser, in local storage on this device. They are not sent to a Sea Skills Online server. Clearing site data in the browser removes the account.
A session cookie and an enrolment cookie are set so the lesson player can check that this browser is enrolled. The cookies last up to a year and are limited to this site. They are not used for advertising.
Site measurement
Vercel Web Analytics records anonymised page views, and Vercel Speed Insights records how fast each page loads. Neither sets an advertising cookie. Vercel describes the data in its Web Analytics privacy notice and its Speed Insights privacy notice.
Course progress
The COLREGs lesson player keeps your place, quiz scores and audio settings in local storage on this device. That progress stays in the browser. It is separate from the account record, and it is not uploaded.
Messages
The contact form opens a message in your own email app addressed to hello@seaskillsonline.com. The site does not store the message.
Payments
Card payments are taken by Stripe. Checkout sends you to Stripe to enter your card, and it sends Stripe the email address on your account so Stripe can receipt the payment. Sea Skills Online does not receive or store your card number. Stripe tells this site whether the payment succeeded. Stripe describes the payment data it collects in its privacy policy.
Before a server account is added
A later version will need a server-side account store, a stated lawful basis for keeping account data, a retention period, and a way to access or delete an account. Those controls are not part of this version. See also the Terms of use.
